If there is a sparkle of an idea of where to travel in Malaysia, probably Penang, Malacca, and Langkawi are the only places that cross your mind, but little did you know there are thousands of surprises waiting for you when visiting Terengganu, the ‘Gem of the East Coast’.

Sitting on the east coast of Malaysia, this state holds a magical experience for the visitor. The richness of culture to the magnificent view, the humbleness of the heritage and indeed, it is a peace of mind.

Terengganu’s coastline was judged by Malaysia Book of Records for having the longest, cleanest beach in the country.

What makes it more unique is that this state has the longest coastline in Peninsular Malaysia and offers both white powdery sand and beautiful beaches.

However, it is excitingly known best for its magical islands sitting around the shores, such as Perhentian, Redang, Bidong, Lang Tengah, and many more.

When talking about the heritage of craft in Terengganu, it is purely authentic that you cannot get elsewhere except here, such as Batik and Songket, which are just different from any kind.

Songket Terengganu is known for its signature, made with silver, gold, and silk thread, producing delicate pieces of art that were inherited ages ago.

It is not a surprise if a songket is costly because of the complexity of the process-making.

The staff of Pusat Kraftangan Terengganu, Sharidah Rohaya A.Majid, 35, the weavers of Songket for 17 years and has developed skills for most designs of Songket, stated that not many younger generations are interested in continuing the legacy.

To sustain the uniqueness of culture and heritage that we have, the spirit of Rohaya and any other legacy will never dim as long as the effort from everyone, including the government, never stops to lighten up the richness of beauty that Terengganu can offer.

In line with Terengganu Tourism's slogan 'Beautiful Terengganu', this small state is an eye-opener of what domestic tourism should offer. If it is a dish, Terengganu serves it all on a plate and can satisfy all your cravings.

And that is just a sneak peek of what Terengganu can offer you.
